Ladies and Gentleman...Sir Paul McCartney

We finally did it! We cut his hair

Before

Really not sure about this whole thing.

He didn't really love the experience. But at lease he'll be able to see the leg of the chairs he crashes into. I would say that he'll be able to avoid them now, but I think that's wishful thinking.

I think this picture is really funny!

So handsome! A striking resemblance to the aforementioned Beatle...don't you think?

****Blog Worthy****

There's a really cute picture at the end if you would rather skip ahead.
I love it when I produce a photo worthy loaf of bread. I love it even better when I feel that it's blog worthy.

The front one is the loaf I'm proud of. The back one looks weird.

In other blog worthy news:

I made Aunt Shelly's caramel corn recipe today for the first time and was delicious. There might be some when Carson gets home from work.

Siobhan was a big help yesterday while I was folding laundry. She made all the sock matches and folded them all for me. She was so proud.

The sloppy joes I made for dinner last night were perfection.

Got Siobhan registered for pre-school next year.

I'm discovering my strengths and making them work for me. It's a fun journey!

Mr. Will screams a lot...I know he's cursing at me.

Today's naptime story:
I completely blame my husband for the demise of naptime this afternoon....if only because I need someone to blame. You see everyone was down for their naps at the normal time and everything was good so I decided that I would lay down as well. I was super tired from my new morning routine. So I texted Carson at 1:58. It said 'Laying down to rest for a bit. Please call in a half hour.' Ten minutes later he called to say hi. He apparently didn't know he had a new text. I had just barely fallen asleep. I told him to call me back in a half hour. 15 minutes later, everyone was up. It was all because of the karma he sent with his ill timed phone call. I don't know why, but I blame him.

My new morning routine.
I found this blog the other day and fall in love. So I took her challenge (the 1/2 challenge that is). Click on the words to find out about it. I'm starting in The Book of Mormon and next I'm going to do the New Testament. Anyway, what does this all have to do with my morning routine...here goes if you're interested.

5:30 Carson wakes up to get ready for seminary
6:00-6:30 Carson wakes me up. I could get up with him, but I need that extra half hour of semi-consciousness to come to full awareness. I get dressed (no more spending the day in jammies just because I don't have anywhere to go), do my hair, brush my teeth, and make the bed.
6:30-7 ish I go down stairs, spend time in prayer, study (not read, study) my scriptures making special notes about any mention of women/womanhood/motherhood, etc. Pray some more when it's all done.
7-whenever the kids wake up (usually about 7:30) Do something useful like fold a load of laundry, empty dishwasher, hang up clothes, etc.
7:30 make breakfast for kiddos.

I'm on day 2 and it's been amazing already. This is one that I think I can keep up with. It's all centered on making sure I get the reading done. I've tried so many different reading programs and ideas and I have failed at every single one of them. But this one is low pressure because there's really no time frame. Go check out the blog to find out all about it!

This is what I was looking at while blogging today.

Random Thoughts

(check out that double chinned goodness. This was taken right after we ate thanksgiving dinner.)
*****Edited due to apparent confusion*****
Over on C Janes blog, she did a whole post about her random thoughts as she began the new year. It got me to thinking.....I like random thought and I have a lot of them.

I have a lot of holiday weight.
Not a result of any human growing inside of me.

As per Cardigan Empire's post, I'm going to start dressing well in my present state. My body seems to be a constant state of fluctuation so it does me no good to fret about what doesn't fit me right now, because chances are, it will fit me in a few weeks/month. Although, I did finally move the box of maternity clothes out of my closet and into the garage for storage so I'm hoping that they won't need to fit me for a while....like 6-7 months from now because that is the approximate time table for getting pregnant again.

I want some apple cobbler because I'm going to start dressing well in my current state...that 'state' is not the pregnant state.

Yesterday, when Mr. Will woke up from his nap, I went into get him and he reached up for me. When I picked him up with soothing 'Where's my baby boy?' (or something equally sickeningly sweet that only a little bundle would find enticing), he instantly gave me a nuzzle into my shoulder. For that split second, all that he needed was his mommy. That's a great feeling. And for a split second, I was in heaven. We were there together, just me and him. And then just as was got there, we left. He heard a fun a new sound that sent his neck craning to see where it came from. And just a quickly, he was out of my arms wiggling to his next adventure. But for that split second, all he needed was me.

I'm going to go get my apple cobbler. I really wanted some!

I really wish that I was able to write better. Like so many of the blogs that I follow, I want to be so clever and witty and my readers actually have a hard time figuring out what I said, but when they finally do, it's hilarious or insightful or thought provoking and always original. (for prime examples check C Jane, Cardigan Empire or my friend Kathleen)

One of my new years resolutions is to be a better visiting teacher and dang it, I'm going to be.

This is the best apple cobbler in the world. Actually, to clarify, its apple crisp.

The house is really quiet when all the kids are down for their naps. As much as I really like my alone time (Which Marcus Buckingham says I do need), I really miss hearing the giggles and squeals of games of tag and make believe. I could go without the shrill screams of Audrey not getting her way though. And no, I'm not planning on adding any more children to that mix for a little while longer, but I'll let you all know what I do.

Have you ever noticed that when you think you have your hands on the right keys while typing and you actually don't, you almost never type an actual word? For instance, I was typing the word 'fallin' and it came out gs;;om....not even close.

I'm not the biggest fan of John Meyer (Ahhh blasphemy I know) but every now and then, he has a stroke of genius. And now for more blasphemy, his version of Free Fallin is better than Tom Petty's.

Something got me to thinking about how I would really like to stay in my sweat pants all day and that my husband really wouldn't care. I know him too well. He loves me more today than yesterday regardless of the shower or lack thereof. But I'm going to shower and get myself looking presentable. The purpose for this is 3 fold.....1. I owe it to myself, 2. I'm going to hobby lobby with a friend after naps, 3. I danced last night.

I'm so excited for the dance I get to do to True Colors for my intermediate lyrical class.

I'm thinking of starting a facebook group devoted to this year's priesthood and Relief Society lessons because I feel like there could be some very interesting discussions on the topics. It will also help me keep up with the resolution I made to read them every week.

My other resolution was to spend less time on the computer.....so.....I'm out!

Christmas Day With The Mitchells

We decided to spend Christmas on our own this year and it was so much fun! It was so wonderful to be able to spend so much time as a family and enjoy each other's company. We started some new traditions that I think will take hold for the rest of our lives as well as keeping up with some old traditions as well. (I will post about those later)
Our Christmas tree after Santa came around. Look at all those presents!

Santa loves all the treats we left for him. Especially the peanut butter cups and the cranberry orange bread!

Our kiddos are still young enough that they don't wake up at the you-know-what-crack of dawn on Christmas. We actually had to wake them up cause we were so excited! Here is Siobhan digging into her stocking!

All the girls really wanted was a popcorn machine so Santa hooked them up! They love it and think that it's pretty much the coolest thing ever. Siobhan also asked for a deer, but Santa was fresh out. Mommy did make her a shirt with a deer applique on it though a few days later. That counts right?

Mr. Will chomping on the orange he got in his stocking. He was kind of pill the whole time so he spent most of the time in his high chair snacking. This is one of the few times he was happy. I think he was overwhelmed by it all.

It wouldn't be christmas without a scantily clad barbie now would it?
My Edward Cullen New Moon jammies! Unfortunately, they were too small and we had to exchange them. But I had them in time for New Years.

Audrey wearing her crown and earrings that Mr. Will gave her having a tea party.

One of the big hits was the tea party set that Siobhan got. We have all been having lots of tea parties!

*Other high lights include, books for Mommy and Daddy, lots of princess stuff, play laptops for both girls, blocks and cars for Will, fun movies for each girl, and cool clothes. It was a great Christmas!*
