My New Thing
The kids and I were driving around the neighborhood this morning looking for garage sales. I try really hard to be selective when garage saleing and I have to remember that just because it's a dollar, I probably don't need that embroidered throw pillow that I just might get around to restyling in about a year. And let's face it, people are mostly just selling crap so it should really be re-termed a garbage sale. So I usually just drive by at record breaking slow speeds to see if anything catches my eye. As I drove by sale after sale, I figured I wasn't going to find anything. Then I made my way into a cul-de-sac and came upon the best deal ever. There, with a beam of light shining down on it from the heavens, was the object that has taken me to thrift store after thrift store, garage sale after garage sale and craigslist posting after posting.....a sewing machine. I got out of my car thinking that it was probably going to be out of my price range. Then I looked at the blessed tag and saw it $5 . So I bought it. It was her mother's from back in the day who always kept it in immaculate condition and the woman selling it had only used it once since inheriting it 15 years ago. I'm so excited to break it out and start making things. I already have ideas of all the fun skirt and dresses that I can make for the girls. I might make a few things for myself here and there and I might branch out and make felt food. We'll see. The possibilities are endless!

Felt food?
I said the same thing...felt food? Start with skirts, OK? You will have fun!!
I know what you are talking about Meghan! I have been wanting to make felt food, too. So cute! Congrats on the good deal.
i went driving around today too! I did the same thing as you, and drove by slowly, but i never got the blessed opportunity of getting out of my car! There was a really good looking sale but I was too chicken to get out because the sellers were two scummy looking men and no one else was there so I just kept driving! I'm so happy for you!
$5 for a sewing machine? Sounds awesome! I have decided I need to learn to sew someday. If we ever move to Colorado you can teach me. :-)
Great deal Meg! We definitely need to have a felt food sewing party!!
